Kesterson center hosts kids' event
A Color Egg-Stravaganza will be 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Lorna J. Kesterson Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St., Henderson.
Children will decorate eggs using colored dyes, rubber bands, stickers and other materials. Participation is $5 with all supplies included.
Also at the center 3-4:30 p.m. Saturday, kids can play "Bunny Bingo," a bingo on a bunny-face board, with prizes awarded to the winners of one-way bingo, double bingo, 6-pack, 9-pack, X bingo and coverall. Call 565-2121.
Six-week program offered to students
The Health Careers Opportunity Program is offering a six-week academic enrichment project for grades 6-10 during the 2001-02 school year.
The program is for children with a 2.5 grade point average overall and a 2.0 grade point average in science and math courses. The program is designed to excite students about math, science and the health professions.
Students must submit an application, a copy of their academic transcript, two letters of recommendation, from a teacher or counselor (recommendation forms may be requested), and a 200-word essay.

Seminars extended into next year
Parents Helping Parents, a program designed for parents with children up to 6 years, will extend its seminars through Feb. 28, 2003, giving parents an opportunity to learn in-depth parenting techniques over a full year.
Parents will learn what skills their children need to start kindergarten, modern dated discipline techniques, how to make grocery shopping trips and eating out an enjoyable experience.

Grand reopening celebration planned
Family members are invited to Walker Park's grand reopening celebration 12:30-3:30 p.m. Saturday at 1509 June St.
North Las Vegas Mayor Michael Montandon along with City Council members will be present at the event, which will feature an egg toss, free food, sack race, bunny hop, face painting, chalk drawing, and an egg hunt.

Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center
will host "Cooking for a Healthy Tomorrow," a cooking demonstration at 7 p.m. Monday in the hospital's auditorium, 3186 Maryland Parkway. For reservations, call 731-8033.
