Gioietta Betancourt, 65, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born June 25, 1936, in Fiume, Italy. A resident for 29 years, she was a changeperson.

She is survived by five sons, Roger of California, Russell and Shawn, both Minnesota and Ricky and Randy, both of Las Vegas; three daughters, Rosanna, Robin and Rhonda, all of Las Vegas; two brothers, Nelio Spessot of Austria and Malin Spessot of Canada; one sister, Lori Schultz of Reno; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be private. Garden Memorial Funeral Home, 3600 W. Vegas Drive, handled arrangements.

Sandra Joan Brown

Sandra Joan Brown, 68, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born March 13, 1934, in California. A resident for two years, she was a dental assistant.

She is survived by two sons, Kevin and David; two daughters, Karen and Dayyat; one brother, Bob Reeves; two sisters, Shirley Burton and Donna Carey; and seven grandchildren.

Allen Sperry Chatwin

Allen Sperry Chatwin, 19, of Henderson died Saturday at a ski resort in Utah. He was born Dec. 29, 1982, in Salt Lake City. A resident of 13 years, he was an Eagle scout, graduate of Green Valley High School and a student at Brigham Young University.

He is survived by his parents, Virginia and John Chatwin; one sister, Jennifer L. Chatwin; two brothers Richard D. Chatwin and Ryan J. Chatwin, all of Henderson; two grandmothers, Anne Chatwin of Glendora, Calif., and Ada Hartzog of Eufaula, Ala.

Services were scheduled at noon today in the LDS Whitney Ranch Ward. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., handled arrangements.

Catherine Christensen

Catherine Christensen, 82, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. She was born Sept. 27, 1919, in Los Angeles. A resident for 51 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Linnette Baumgardner, and one son, Jerry Hauser, both of Las Vegas; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

Charles R. Cooper Sr.

Charles R. Cooper Sr., 78, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born April 10, 1923, in DeLark, Ark. A resident for 52 years, he was a retired maintenance supervisor, World War II Army veteran and a member of the Fordyce Club.

He is survived by seven daughters, Linda Van Norman, Vaneshia Cooper and Julia Matlock, all of Las Vegas, Patricia Griffin of Henderson, Jacqueline Cooper of San Francisco, Mae Helen Hall of Fordyce and Jean McGee of Stockton, Calif.; two sons, Larry Cooper of Irving, Texas, and William Cooper of North Las Vegas; his mother, Julia Samuel of North Las Vegas; 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be noon Friday in Palm Chapel, Main, followed by burial in Eden Vale Memorial Park.

Walter Bailey Free

Walter Bailey Free, 73, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 11, 1928 in Memphis, Tenn. A resident of 13 years, he was a retired Army staff sergeant and veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars.

He is survived by one son, Scott Free of North Las Vegas; and three grandchildren.

Services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Neptune Society of Nevada, 8570 Del Webb Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Colleen Fricks, 69, of Las Vegas died Saturday in North Las Vegas. A longtime resident, she was born Aug. 13, 1932.

Marcus Wilson Hathaway

Marcus Wilson Hathaway, 80, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 24, 1922, in Bangor, Maine. A resident for 15 years, he was a retired Navy chief hospital corpsman.

He is survived by three daughters, Nancy DeFazio of Eldred, N.Y., Jill Steele of Downsville, N.Y., and Ann Shirley; one son, John Hathaway of Syracuse, N.Y.; one stepson, William Anderson of San Diego; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services are scheduled 7 p.m. Thursday in Unity Church of the Desert, 26478 State St. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, handled arrangements.

Woneta Sue Hudacek

Woneta Sue Hudacek, 84, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local care center. She was born Aug. 10, 1917, in Missouri. A resident for 30 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Toni Gandha and Cynthia Trevino; and four grandchildren.

Audrey C. Janise

Audrey C. Janise, 87, died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 15,, 1914, in Reynoldsville, Pa. A resident for 43 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Cox of Yuma, Ariz., Alice Holman of Pomona, Calif.; one son, Frank Janise of Las Vegas; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Stella R. Jones, 84, died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 6, 1917, in El Centro Calif. A resident of 15 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Lila Beach of Las Vegas and Ethel O'Stickey of Fort White, Fla.; one son, Richard Roberts of Sacramento; one brother, Dillon Brown of San Jacinto, Calif.; five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Archie J. LaPlante, 72, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born March 21, 1929, in Ashland, N.H. A resident for six years, he was a retired railroad conductor, World War II Army veteran and a member of the National Rifle Association and Elks.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley A.; two daughters, Sherry Anaya of Flagstaff and Neva Adkins of Henderson; two sons, James A. LaPlante and Robert LaPlante, both of Henderson; one sister, May Bennett of Hemet, Calif.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Ted Martin, 82, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 25, 1919, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 15 years, he was a salesman.

He is survived by his wife, Roslyn; one daughter, Barbara Valli of Las Vegas; and two sisters, Ruth Logrippo of Los Angeles and Sylvia Skaling of Bushkill, Pa.

David Oren McKee

David Oren McKee, 88, of Boulder City died Monday in Boulder City. He was born June 2, 1913, in Bearcreek, Mont. A resident for 13 years, he was a junior high school principal.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Arline Anne.

Burial will be in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Samuel Montesano Sr.

Samuel Montesano Sr., 70, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 26, 1931, in Bronx, N.Y. A resident for 10 years, he was a business owner and a Korean War Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Antoinette; two sons, Samuel Montesano Jr., and Steven Montesano, and two daughters, Lucille Montesano and Toniann Montesano, all of Las Vegas; three sisters, Irene Acampora, Caroline Squallante and Josephine Spinelli, all of New York; and six grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Wednesday and noon-6 p.m. Thursday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church, 3050 Alta Drive, followed by burial in Memory Gardens.

Esther Morgner, 68, of North Las Vegas died Thursday in North Las Vegas. Born Oct. 17, 1933, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Morgner-Musgrove of Las Vegas; two sons, Emilio Morgner of Las Vegas and Erick Morgner of North Las Vegas; two sisters, Blanca Hein of Las Vegas and Edilma Buraye of Ecuador; six brothers, Edwin Delgado of Las Vegas, Salomon Delgado of Santa Monica, Calif., and Edison Delgado, Walter Delgado, William Delgado and Ray Delgado, all of Ecuador; and four grandchildren.

Theodore Lee Myers

Theodore Lee Myers, 57, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 27, 1944, in Lancaster, Pa. A resident for nine years, he was disabled.

He is survived by his wife, Stacey; and one brother, Robert Myers of Pennsylvania.

Alejandro Juan Ojeda

Alejandro Juan Ojeda, 52, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born May 3, 1949, in Havana, Cuba. A resident for 25 years, he was a bartender.

He is survived by his companion, Chantel Froelich of Las Vegas; one son, Jose Chao of Las Vegas; two daughters, Jacqueline Sierra of Albuquerque and Ilena Ojeda of Las Vegas; two brothers, Gustavo Ojeda and Ceasar Coatcia, and two sisters, Alida Martinz and Adelaida Carmen, both of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Nilo L. Ollado, 45, of Las Vegas died Saturday. He was born Dec. 10, 1956, in the Philippines. A resident for one year, he was a retired Navy senior chief and Persian Gulf War veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Liza Ollado, and one son, Tyrone Mel Ollado, both of Sacramento; his parents, Nemesio and Maria Conchita Ollado, and one brother, Randy Ollado, all of Las Vegas; four sisters, Girlie L. Ollando and Nimfa Ollado, both of Las Vegas, and Mayonie Ollado and Roselyn Camanag, both of the Philippines; and three grandchildren.

Roosevelt Pamplin, 72, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 28, 1929, in Bobo, Miss. A resident for 49 years, he was a porter and a member of City Wide Usher Board.

He is survived by two daughters, Pearlie B. Johnson of Bradfort, Tenn., and Beatrice Dickenson of Las Vegas; two sons, Arthur L. Carter and Alvin G. Carter, both of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Diane Ann Paulson, 53, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 27, 1948, in Rhode Island. A resident for 14 years, she was a restaurant owner.

Wendell O. Pike, 74, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. He was born Nov. 3, 1927, in Little Rock, Ark. A resident for 27 years, he was a retired truck driver and World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Paula Spina of Las Vegas and Rita Edmondson of Buena Park, Calif.; his parents, Vernon and Euna Pike, and one brother, Robert Pike, all of Modesto, Calif.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Eric A. Powers, 47, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 24, 1954, in Phoenix. A resident for 13 years, he was a hotel bellman.

He is survived by his wife, Janee; one daughter, Alicia Powers, and one son, Mason Powers, both of Las Vegas; his mother, Alice D. Cutler of Woodland Hills, Calif.; his father, Alfred Lopez of Redondo Beach, Calif.; two sisters, Margo Sturgess of Yuca Valley, Calif., and Cathy Kyriakou of Calabasas, Calif.; one brother, Robert Lopez of Little Neck, N.Y.; and two stepsisters, Yvonne Sholdra and Tina Virgin, both of San Bernardino, Calif.

Albert A. Rapp Jr., 81, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. He was born Feb. 27, 1921, in Aurelia, Iowa. A resident for 34 years, he was a retired Air Force staff sergeant and World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Ramona; three daughters, Linda Bantel of Pineville, La., Lorna Lauw of Freeport, Texas, and Carolyn Davis of Deer Park, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Tom Roush, 53, of Las Vegas died Feb. 23 in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 30, 1948, in California. A longtime resident, he was a laborer.

He is survived by one daughter, April Marie Roush of Las Vegas; two brothers, Kenneth Leroy Roush of Arizona and Richard Lee Roush of Mississippi; one sister, JoAnn Gothard of Arizona; and one grandchild.

Otis Ruff Jr.

Otis Ruff Jr., 54, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 29, 1947, in Monroe, La. A resident since infancy, he was retired.

He is survived by one sister, Margarette Ruff of Las Vegas.

She is survived by two sons, Edward Shand of New York and Christopher Shand of Tennessee; three daughters, Terrie Francisoc of Florida, Cynthia Georgilas of Las Vegas and Kathleen Hayden of South Carolina; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mary C. Shank-Hollywood, 86, of Henderson died Saturday in a local care center. She was born Nov. 20, 1915, in Philadelphia. A resident for seven years, she was a homemaker and a member of the Thorough Breed Racing Association of Southern California.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Lou Jacivicz and Elizabeth Nasser, both of Henderson; one son, James Cavanaugh of San Diego; one sister, Anna O'Brien of Philadelphia; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Charles E. Swiantkiewicz Jr.

Charles E. Swiantkiewicz Jr., 61, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 21, 1940, in Moline, Ill. A resident for 11 years, he was a retired Air Force master sergeant and Vietnam War veteran and a member of the Southern Nevada Bowling Association.

He is survived by his wife, Amy; one daughter, Joanna of San Diego; two sons, Jerry Monroe Swiantkiewicz of San Antonio and Charles David Swiantkiewicz of Hobbs, N.M.; his mother, Eunice Swiatkiewicz of Las Vegas; one sister, Therese Overwick of Ham Lake, Minn.; and two brothers, Donald Bruce Swiatkiewicz of Sturgeon Lake, Minn., and Edmund John Swiatkiewicz of Las Vegas; and five grandchildren.

Robert L. Thomas, 62, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born April 5, 1939, in Grand Junction, Colo. A resident for four years, he was a salesman and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Dolly; two sons, Brian Scott Thomas of San Diego, Calif., and Christopher Todd Thomas of Santa Rosa, Calif.; two daughters, Michelle Ann Burr of Florida and Valerie Thomas Seely of Cleveland; nine brothers and sisters; and six grandchildren.

Edmund "Ned" Tombow, 55, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born May 24, 1946, in Pasadena, Calif. A resident for 10 years, he was a security officer at the Fiesta hotel.

He is survived by his wife, Marie.

George William Tooley, 49, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. Born May 18, 1952, in Michigan, he was a retired Navy veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Yildiz Chambers of Arlington, Va., and Deniz Sipes of Chula Vista, Calif.; two sisters, Alice Hiekkala and Kathleen Pletzke, and her father, Geprge Tooley, all of Michigan; and two grandchildren.

He is survived by one son, Admod Turner of North Las Vegas; one brother, Roger Turner of Virginia; three sisters, Julia Goff, LizEola B. Turner and Marilyn Williams, all of Las Vegas; and six grandchildren.

Frank R. Wilcox Jr., 75,. of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born April 29, 1926, in Caliente. A resident for 49 years, he was a casino cashier and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by three sons, Frank Wilcox III, John Wilcox and Steve Wilcox, all of Las Vegas; three brothers, Richard Wilcox of Verdi and Robert Wilcox and Max Wilcox, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Suzanne Sloan of Salt Lake City; and five grandchildren.

George Woelke

George Woelke, 89, of Nevada died March 10. He was a business owner in Pasadena and later retired to Nevada.
