Tiffany to leave hospital soon

Tuesday, March 19, 2002 | 9:26 a.m.

Assemblywoman Sandra Tiffany, who many feared would die two weeks ago after being stricken by severe pain while on a flight, could leave the hospital by week's end.

Tiffany, R-Henderson, was moved out of the Critical Care Unit at Providence St. Joseph's Medical Center in Burbank, Calif., on Monday.

"She expects to be released from the hospital on Friday, or not later than Monday, and will return home to Henderson," reports Tiffany's website, calling the assemblywoman a "miracle girl."

Tiffany was en route to a conference in Sacramento March 4 when she was stricken with pain from kidney stones and was rushed to the hospital during the plane's scheduled stop in Burbank.

The following day she underwent kidney stone surgery but went into septic shock from a massive infection. The days that followed were described by friends at her side as "touch and go" as Tiffany underwent dialysis and required the assistance of respirators.

Tiffany, who is running for Senate District 5, expects to make a full recovery and campaign for the fall election.

"The doctors tell us that after a week of rest, she will be able to resume her regular activities, so watch out Nevada," the website reports.

Tiffany, 52, tells friends she is thankful for everyone who prayed and donated blood for her and who sent donations, cards, e-mails and flowers.
