Plays staged
UNLV's Ten Minute Play Festival, featuring the works of graduate playwriting students, will be presented at 8 p.m. today and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the university's Paul Harris Theatre. Tickets are $3. Call 895-1575.
The Center Stage Inc. presents the contemporary play "Before it Hits Home," about a black, bisexual musician who contracts AIDS, at 8 p.m. today and Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday at West Las Vegas Library Theater, 951 W. Nevada Theatre Company presents "The Mineola Twins," about twin sisters who learn that times change more than just your hairstyle, at 8 p.m. Thursday through March 23 and 2 p.m. March 24. Area youngsters
More than 60 young people -- musicians, dancers, singers, comedians and magicians -- will compete in the city of Las Vegas Cultural Affairs Division's 23rd Annual Search for Talent Competition, which continues with the Senior Division (ages 15-18) at 2 p.m. Saturday at Reed Whipple Culture Center, 821 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Brass band
The Las Vegas British Brass Band will perform at 2 p.m. Saturday at Winchester Community Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive. Tickets are $7; $5 for seniors and children age 12 and younger.
Country crooner
County music star Ricky Skaggs and his Kentucky Thunder band will perform at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and 9 and 11 a.m. Sunday at Central Christian Church, 1001 New Beginnings Drive in Henderson. Admission is free. Call 735-4004.
Big-band favorites

Workshop scheduled

The Clark County School District's Fine Arts Division presents the Elementary Orff Instrument Festival at 7 p.m. Saturday at UNLV's Artemus Ham Concert Hall.

Chorale, choir
