Boyd Gaming Corp. named Keith Smith as its chief operating officer, the Las Vegas-based casino operator announced today.
Smith was Boyd's executive vice president of operations. From the COO's position Smith will have responsibility for operations of all of Boyd's 12 casino properties around the country.
Smith replaces Robert Boughner, who has been overseeing the construction of the Borgata, a $1 billion hotel-casino in Atlantic City jointly owned by Boyd and MGM MIRAGE. Boughner has decided to remain chief executive of the Borgata after the property opens in 2003, Boyd said.
