Royal Hotel timeshare project expanded

Wednesday, March 6, 2002 | 11:10 a.m.

The owner of the off-Strip Royal Hotel in Las Vegas plans to build a timeshare development that will be larger than initially announced.

Resort Magic, a subsidiary of USA Investment Partners, Las Vegas, plans a $100 million, 40-story tower with 426 timeshare units at the site at Convention Center Drive, near Las Vegas Boulevard.

The company, which plans to begin construction in October with the first phase of the project to be completed in 2004, announced late last year that it was planning a 36-story, 250-unit tower.

The additional four floors will include additional timeshare units as well as two floors of 10,000-square-foot owned penthouse suites.

The company also plans to convert the 236-room Royal Hotel, acquired by Resort Magic Nov. 15, into timeshares. Fifty rooms had already been converted when the company acquired the property for an undisclosed amount.
