Teamsters contract signed

Monday, March 4, 2002 | 9:57 a.m.

Las Vegas's largest limousine company has signed a two-year contract with Teamsters Local 995.

Rob Rovere, a spokesman for the union, which has about 3,500 members and has represented hotel and gaming industry professional and clerical workers in Las Vegas for 30 years, said the new contract with Las Vegas Limousine was the first Teamsters contract signed by limousine drivers in the city.

Rovere said the new contract classifies the 230 drivers as "just cause" employees, meaning drivers can't be fired without cause. The contract specifies that drivers are paid 35 percent of their booking contract amounts plus tips.

It also outlines Las Vegas Limousine employees' seniority rights, grievance and arbitration procedures and discipline policies.
