Letter: At court, kids not being heard
Monday, March 4, 2002 | 9:04 a.m.
I support Sandy Thompson's Feb. 22 column, "Teen wants more of a say in his life." I could not agree any more that children must be heard.
In the last five years I have heard endless cases of children's voices being ignored by Family Court. The continued agenda in Family Court appears to be that the litigant with the "juice" or "connected" attorney wins and the children lose. These children then often become statistics turning to crime and self-destructive behavior. When will we all wake up?
We are creating dysfunctional children by denying them their fundamental constitutional rights.
This year is a big election year for Family Court. Before you take the time to vote, become informed and choose a candidate that has more than their political future as a primary concern.
