Life-saving information can be kept in patient’s refrigerator for emergency

In a life-threatening situation, having all relevant information available can make the difference between life and death.
With that in mind, officials at St. Rose Dominican Hospital in Henderson, along with KLAS Channel 8, Longs Drugs and Signature Lincoln-Mercury, have kicked off a program they hope will save lives by making information about each patient's blood type, emergency contacts, chronic ailments, medications and allergies more readily available.
The program, known as EMSfile, is simply an EMS-labeled prescription bottle holding such information for each member of the household. The family then affixes a sticker to the front door or window of their home to indicate there is an EMSfile on the top shelf of their refrigerator door.
The bottles sell for $1 at Las Vegas area Longs Drugs locations.
