Metro to host open houses
Metro Police will present a general overview of how the Records Bureau operates during open houses at 7 p.m. Tuesday at its area substations.
Hosting the events will be the Northwest Substation, 9850 W. Cheyenne Ave.; Southwest, 5925 W. Spring Mountain Road; Northeast, 831 N. Mojave Road; Southeast, 2300 E. St. Louis Ave., and Downtown, 401 S. Fourth St.
Rangers host lake programs
Rangers at Lake Mead National Recreation Area's Visitor Center near Boulder City will host a series of short programs on a variety of topics, including endangered species, native legends and geology, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.
Evening events begin Saturday with a program called Moving Mountains and Shifting Sands, focusing on the geology of the Lake Mead region.
Trickster Tales, exploring American Indian legends relating to the coyote and the raven, will be held July 6 and Aug. 3. Call 293-8990.
Stand Tall Don't Fall,
a youth-driven organization, will hold its fourth annual alcohol prevention camp through Friday at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas' Moyer Student Union Ballroom.Call Diane Pidsosny at 426-2920.
