SALT LAKE CITY -- Matt Hensley scattered three hits over seven innings to lead the Salt Lake Stingers to an 8-2 win over the Las Vegas 51s Wednesday night.
After allowing an RBI single by Phil Hiatt in the first, Hensley (2-1) shut out Las Vegas over his last six innings, striking out eight and walking one.
Clay Bellinger led the Salt Lake attack with three hits, including a three-run home run in the fourth off Las Vegas starter Dennis Springer (3-6) that gave the Stingers a five-run lead.
Rick Short tied the game at 1-1 for Salt Lake with a second-inning homer and the Stingers went ahead to stay on a run-scoring single by Alfredo Amezaga in the third.
Short and Amezaga each added three hits as all nine starters had at least one hit for the Stingers.
Bubba Crosby hit a home run for Las Vegas in the eighth.
Joe Thurston had two hits for the 51s, including a double that set up the first run.
