Jazz in the Park event on Saturday

The 13th annual Jazz in the Park series will conclude at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Clark County Amphitheater, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway. The event will feature nationally known jazz artists. Admission is free. Call 455-8200.

Radiothon to raise fund for St. Jude's

La Nueva 103.5-FM and KLSQ 870-AM present their third annual radiothon 6 a.m.-7 p.m. today and Friday at Albertson's, 2021 E. Lake Mead Blvd. The radiothon will raise funds for St. Jude's Children's Hospital, one of the world's premier centers for research and treatment of catastrophic diseases in children, primarily pediatric cancers. The hospital's mission is to provide unsurpassed patient care and to advance the health of children through biomedical research. To participate in the event as a sponsor, call 284-6425.

Golf tourney to aid church

Central Christian Church will host its fifth annual Golf Tournament beginning with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at the Legacy Golf Club, 130 Par Excellence Drive, to support Central's worldwide mission efforts. Benefit concert to aid Shade Tree

Summerlin Smoothie King is sponsoring the Lift Ticket Benefit Concert at 7 p.m. Friday at 8502 W. Lake Mead Blvd. Teens will raise money for homeless women and children of The Shade Tree Shelter. DARE golf tourney set

The fourth annual Drug Abuse Resistance Education Charity Golf Tournament will begin at 7 a.m. Monday with a shotgun start at Las Vegas National Golf Club, 1911 E. Desert Inn Road. Tournament fees are $200, which includes a continental breakfast, lunch, green fees/cart and a tee gift bag.

The mission of DARE is to support the DARE program in Clark County schools to aid children to resist drugs and violence. For more information, call 340-9080.

Free screenings for osteoporosis

Pharmaceutical Care Network, the pharmacy benefit manager that administers Nevada's Senior Rx program, is offering free osteoporosis screenings to Senior Rx members from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. today and Friday at the Cambridge Recreation Center, 3930 Cambridge St.

Screenings will help identify patients with, or at risk for osteoporosis, increase patient awareness of the disease and improve quality of life. Advice nurses will be available for questions and answers, and to provide information on lifestyle modifications, such as diet and exercise. For more information, call (800) 262-7726.

Program to look at autistic children

The documentary "Refrigerator Mothers" will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Clark County Library's Theater, 1401 E. Flamingo Road, as part of the program entitled "Exploring Autism: From History to Recovery."

This movie looks at children with autism, who never received effective treatment, and their families.

Following the movie, video clips of children, before and after long-term, intensive treatment will be shown, and a panel discussion with autism experts will discuss current treatments for autism and a child's potential for recovery. Admission is free. For more information, call 647-1230.

Alzheimer's group sponsors program
