As a child, I remember the patriotic atmosphere that prevailed in Brooklyn -- the block party joys of VE and VJ Days, and the gratitude we felt when our loved ones came home.
I'm glad the Windtalkers are finally receiving some of the accolades and recognition they so rightfully deserve for their remarkable contributions.
