James Rex Battles

James Rex Battles, 58, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. He was born Feb. 28, 1944, in Mulberry, Ark. A resident for six years, he was a security guard for TSI Security.

He is survived by his wife, Gail; two sons, Eugene Pocock of Sacramento and Brian Pocock of Corona, Calif.; his parents, James and Volene Battles, two brothers, Danny Battles and Randy Battles, and one sister, Norma Kay Schaffran, all of Glendora, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Services and burial will be in California. Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Boettcher

Jerome Ward Boettcher, 78, of Boulder City died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born July 7, 1923, in Missouri. A resident for 16 years, he was a geologist at Exxon for 18 years and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by six daughters, Mary Catherine of Boulder City, Teresa, Cecelia and Gloria, all of Colorado, Elizabeth of New Mexico and Margaret of Missouri; two sons, Blase of Missouri and Anthony of Colorado; and 16 grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 6-8 p.m. today in St. Andrew's Catholic Church, 1399 San Felipe Drive, Boulder City. Mass of Resurrection will be 10 a.m. Friday in St. Andrew's. Graveside services and burial will follow at noon Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Boulder City Family Mortuary, 833 Nevada Way, Suite 1, is handling arrangements.

The family suggests donations to Lend-A-Hand, 400 Utah St., Boulder City, NV 89005, St. Andrew's Catholic Church, 1399 San Felipe Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005 or the donor's favorite charity.

Edgar Drake

Edgar Drake, 83, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born June 9, 1918, in East St. Louis, Ill. A resident for 45 years, he was a dealer and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; two sons, Thomas Drake of Las Vegas and Eddie Drake of Weed, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling private arrangements.

Bruce Engler

Bruce Engler, 62, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 10, 1939, in New Jersey. A resident for many years, he was a motel owner.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in New Hampshire. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Emens Foley

Ethan Raymond Emens Foley, an infant, died in a local hospital Saturday, his date of birth. He was born June 8, 2002, in Las Vegas.

He is survived by his mother, Dara M. Emens, and his father, Raymond F. Foley IV, both of Las Vegas; and his grandparents, Teresa and Raymond Foley III of Pittsburgh, and Marie Emens and David and Pat Emens, all of Las Vegas.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Stella C. Folks

Stella C. Folks, 100, of Pahrump died Wednesday in Pahrump. She was born Aug. 18, 1901, in Tennessee. A resident for 6 1/2 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Lucille Mayberry of Pahrump.

Marcoantonio Gonzalez

Marcoantonio Gonzalez, 15, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born June 13, 1986, in Zacatecaz, Mexico. A resident for seven years, he was a student at Western High School.

He is survived by his parents, Raymundo and Maria Gonzalez of Las Vegas; three brothers, Miguel Gonzalez and Jovita Gonzalez, both of Mexico and Luis Gonzalez of Las Vegas; and his grandparents, Savero and Paulina Perez of California.

Visitation was scheduled 10 a.m. until noon services today in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial followed in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

Anita Vee Kronsbein

Anita Vee Kronsbein, 64, of Boulder City died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born June 18, 1937, in Ruby, Ariz. A resident for 12 years, she was a homemaker and a member of the Boulder City Women's Golf Association.

She is survived by her husband, George W.; two daughters, Candace Falder of Las Vegas and Anita Dee Alfson of Tucson; one son, George W. Kronsbein III of Boulder, Colo.; one sister, Mary Spilgbury of Long Beach, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 8:40 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Boulder City Family Mortuary, 833 Nevada Way, Suite 1, Boulder City, is handling arrangements.

Stewart B. Kean

Stewart B. Kean, 68, of New Jersey and Las Vegas died June 6 in Elizabeth, N.J. He was born May 9, 1934, in New York City.

A part-time Las Vegas resident, he was president of the Liberty Hall Foundation, chairman of the board of KCS Energy, an employee at Brooklyn Union Gas Co., president of NUI Corp.'s Utility Propane Co., vice-president and then president of the National Liquid Propane Gas Assn., the first president and board member of the council of the World LP Gas Forum, director of Sovereign Bancorp Inc. and Elizabethtown Gas Co., treasurer of the Elizabethtown Historical Foundation, past president of the Union Council of the Boy Scouts of America and an honorary board member of the Watchung Council of the Boy Scouts of America and an Army veteran on detached duty with the Strategic Air Command.

He is survived by one brother, John Kean of Vero Beach, Fla.; and one sister, Mary-Alice Raynolds of Lander, Wyo.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Beaufort, S.C.

Thomas Anthony Owens, 17, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 15, 1984, in Hampton, Va. A resident for eight years, he was a student.

He is survived by his companion, Jessica Majera, his parents, Patrick W. and Donna Owens, and one sister, Kathern Owens, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 1-6 p.m. Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 9 a.m. Monday in Full Gospel Korean Church, 1500 Bledsoe Lane. Graveside services will be in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Joan Charlotte Peterson

Joan Charlotte Peterson, 73, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born April 4, 1929, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for many years, she was a secretary at Clark County Juvenile Court.

She is survived by one sister, Helen M. Clark of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 9 a.m. Saturday in Bunkers Chapel. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Thomas Paul Schmitz, 29, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born May 10, 1973, in Huntington Beach, Calif. A resident for 10 years, he was a craps dealer at the Luxor for five years.

He is survived by his parents, Jacques and Carol, and one sister, Rhonda Pittman, all of Las Vegas; and one brother, Jacques Schmitz Jr. of Los Banos, Calif.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Alfred E. Smith

Alfred E. Smith, 82, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 3, 1919, in Presque Isle, Maine. A resident for seven years, he was a retired machinist in the aerospace industry and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Pamela Remmer of Las Vegas; one son, Alan Smith of Temecula, Calif.; two sisters, Lois Tash of Clovis, Calif., and Dawn Murdock of Las Vegas; two brothers, Philip Smith of Las Vegas and Kilburn Smith of Clovis; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. today and 9-10 a.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Graveside services will follow at 10:40 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Juanita Mildred Thomas, 82, of Las Vegas died June 5 in Las Vegas. She was born May 7, 1920, in Sweetwater, Tenn. A resident for 25 years, she was retired and was a member of Senior Volunteers.

She is survived by one daughter, Eugena Thomas of California; one stepson, Toney Thomas of Michigan; and three brothers, Lloyd Cook of Florida, Bill Cook of Georgia and Sterling Cook of Tennessee.

Brenda Rae Wilcomb, 51, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 26, 1950, in California. A resident for five years, she was an electronics assembler.

She is survived by two daughters, Misti Wilcomb and Jeri Dawn Wilcomb; one brother, Don L. Palmer Sr.; and one grandchild.

Donald L. Wood

Donald L. Wood, 72, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local health care center. He was born July 18, 1929, in Artesia, Calif. A resident for seven years, he was a retired telephone company communications technician, a Korean War Navy veteran, a volunteer for Senior Friends and a member of Telephone Pioneers of America.

He is survived by his wife, Janet L.; six daughters, Sheri Stonesifer of Downey, Calif., Connie Hall of Long Beach, Calif., Shelly Martinez of Yucaipa, Calif., Kelly Attlesey of Lebec, Calif., Vickie Black of Las Vegas and Shannon Trejo of Costa Mesa, Calif.; one son, Timothy Hall of Corona, Calif.; three sisters, Inez McCloud of Westminster, Calif., Pauline Wood of Norwalk, Calif., and Kathleen Wood of Garland, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services and burial will be handled by Forest Lawn Mortuary, Long Beach, Calif.
