Letter: Patients suffer in doctor crisis
Monday, June 10, 2002 | 9:03 a.m.
I am a patient of Clifford Kahle III. I am lucky that I am not pregnant and thought the malpractice insurance issue would not involve me. I was wrong. What I did not realize is that my doctor, along with many other providers, may leave the state of Nevada because of the malpractice insurance. This infuriates me.
I came to Las Vegas five years ago pregnant and was lucky enough to find Dr. Kahle. Now if I was new to Las Vegas my choices of quality physicians would be limited. None are accepting new patients, especially if you are pregnant. I hear through the media that some progress may be in the works. I hope this is the case.
Insurance may have its problems with claims, but to allow the carriers to raise their premiums to an unaffordable amount is absurd. I do not know what I can do, so for now I want to pass along my words of frustration with the situation.
