Park Place Entertainment Corp. will launch a Margaritaville Cafe and entertainment complex, as well as a "Baywatch"-themed restaurant, show and nightclub to spice up entertainment options at the Flamingo Las Vegas.
Park Place is partnering with singer Jimmy Buffett, whose song "Margaritaville" has come to symbolize a life of leisure, and "Baywatch" TV series creator Michael Berk, to operate the venues.
Terms of the deals weren't disclosed.
The Margaritaville complex will feature a Key West and Caribbean-inspired multi-level restaurant, bar and live music stage scheduled to open in fall 2003. The "Baywatch" venue calls for two restaurants, a seasonal outdoor luau and a nightclub.
Both will complement the Flamingo's tropical forest and wildlife tour by adding more nighttime entertainment, Park Place spokeswoman Debbie Munch said. The venues are aimed at a broad range of ages.
"The Flamingo is a big part of the Park Place portfolio right in the middle of the Strip ... in the most important market we have," she said.
