Fern L. Baldwin

Fern L. Baldwin, 87, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. She was born Oct. 5, 1914, in Lost Creek, Ky. A resident for 21 years, she was a film technician and a member of Take off Pounds Safely and Keep off Pounds Sensibly.

She is survived by three daughters, Yvonne Puckett of New York City, Alice Southard of Medford, Ore., and Janice Devine of Las Vegas; one son, David Quisenberry of Los Angeles; two brothers, Logan Landrum of Fort Meyers, Fla., and Blake Landrum of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one sister, Ruth Austerman of Fullerton, Calif.; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd., followed by burial in Hollywood, Calif.

The family suggests donations to the National Parkinson Foundation Inc., 1501 Northwest Ninth Ave., Miami, FL 33136-1494.

Margarete R. Bouton

Margarete R. Bouton, 29, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 9, 1973, in Poland. A resident for four years, she was disabled.

She is survived by her husband, Rick.

A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Saturday in The Clubhouse Tavern, 4001 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., handled arrangements.

Robert Bronder

Robert Bronder, 50, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born May 2, 1952, in Henderson. A resident for 50 years, he was a carpenter and a member of the Carpenters Union.

He is survived by his wife, Penny; one son, Scott Bronder, and one daughter, Katherine Bronder, both of Las Vegas; his father, Ed DeWindt of Oconto, Wis.; two sisters, Debbie O'Donnell of Phoenix and Darlene Cherry of Las Vegas; and three brothers, Steven Bronder of Las Vegas, Brian Bronder of Henderson and John Bronder of Reno.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m. Saturday in the LDS chapel at Stewart Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

The family suggests donations to the West Care of Las Vegas.

Kimberly Jan Ford

Kimberly Jan Ford, 39, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Henderson. She was born Aug. 25, 1962, in Minneapolis. A resident for four years, she was a bar and grill hostess.

She is survived by two sisters, Peggy Anderson of Minneapolis and Faye Sullivan of North Las Vegas.

Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling private arrangements.

Leon Nelson Gensler

Leon Nelson Gensler, 84, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born June 2, 1918, in Philadelphia. A resident for 10 years, he was a minister, and World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Lois Force of Las Vegas and Myra Foster of Riverside, Calif.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Private arrangements will be held in California. Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., handled local arrangements.

Martin M. Gibson

Martin M. Gibson, 81, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local care center. He was born Sept. 6, 1920, in Ohio. A resident for 32 years, he was a retired maintenance engineer for a local casino, World War II Army veteran, and a member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Union Local 501.

He is survived by his wife, Delores.

Private family services are scheduled. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, handled arrangements.

Raymond C. Gordon Jr.

Raymond C. Gordon Jr., 28, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born June 20, 1973, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was disabled.

He is survived by two daughters, Rayonna Gordon and Raysaun Gordon; two sons, Raymond Gordon III and Remelo Wilson; his mother, Barbara Ann Gordon; his stepfather, Fred Hines; one sister, Uniqua Tanner; and two brothers, Marcus Nix and Antonio Asberry, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled noon until 2 p.m. services Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Murray 'Smokey' Haist

Murray "Smokey" Haist, 86, of Boulder City died Wednesday in Henderson. He was born Sept. 23, 1915, in Wentworth, N.Y. A resident for 18 years, he was a retired battalion chief and World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; three sons, Larry Haist of Northridge, Calif., Richard Green of Fort Mohave, Ariz., and Newt Green of Oroville, Calif.; one sister, Ruth Docter of Firth, Neb.; 20 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Monday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Grace Community Church, 1150 Wyoming St., Boulder City, followed by graveside services in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Martha C. Johnson

Martha C. Johnson, 89, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born June 3, 1913, in Campbell, Mo. A resident for 60 years, she was a retired nurse.

She is survived by two daughters, Jane Curtis of Reno and Margaret Wozniak of Porter, Ind.; two sons, Roy Johnson Jr., and Dennis Johnson, both of Las Vegas; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, followed by burial in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

Myong Hui Kim

Myong Hui Kim, 81, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 1, 1920, in Kangwondo, Korea. A resident for 21 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Yong Sik Chang, and one daughter, Sunim Mitchell, both of Las Vegas; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. today in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home Chapel, followed by burial in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Charles Donald Lewis

Charles Donald Lewis, 57, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 7, 1944, in Arkansas. A resident for 20 years, he was an Army dental specialist.

He is survived by one daughter, Charlotte Lewis; one brother, Oscar Franklin Lewis Jr., and Richard Lewis; and two sisters, Vickie Sue Efurd and Marcia Craig.

Services will be private. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, handled arrangements.

Mary Lincoln

Mary Lincoln, 84, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born June 10, 1917, in Missouri. A resident for many years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Norman.

No local services are scheduled. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, handled arrangements.

Lily Lubin

Lily Lubin, 85, of Las Vegas died Tuesday. She was born Oct. 27, 1916, in Chicago. A resident for 20 years, she was a retired secretary for a law firm, and a volunteer at Desert Springs Hospital.

She is survived by one son, Gene Lubin of Chicago; one daughter, Lisa Hileman of Virginia; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 9:30 a.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. King David Memorial Chapel, 2697 Eldorado Lane, is handling arrangements.

Alexander 'Al' Matzkin

Alexander "Al" Matzkin, 82, of Henderson died Thursday in a local care center. He was born Feb. 22, 1920, in Chicago. A resident for eight years, he was a retired automobile dealership owner/operator, World War II Marine Corps veteran, and a member of the Jewish War Veterans Post 65, Marine Corps League, and the Masons.

He is survived by his wife, Adeline; one son, Terry Matzkin of Danville, Calif.; two daughters, Cari Rodman of Danville and Penni Perrault of Valencia, Calif.; two brothers, Seymour Matzkin and Robert Matzkin, both of Chicago; two sisters, Dorothy Wurmser of Des Plaines, Ill., and Evelyn Reid of Chicago; and six grandchildren.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Sunday in King David Memorial Chapel, 2697 Eldorado Lane.

Taevon Derivick Miller

Taevon Derivick Miller died May 28, the day of his birth.

He is survived by his mother, Tamicia Deaderick, his father, Derivick Miller; one brother, Kristan Stowers, and one sister, Timeria Deaderick, all of Las Vegas; and his grandparents, Donna McDonald of Las Vegas, Freeman Stowers of St. Louis, Sharon Miller of Hazlehurst, Miss., and Billy Lynch Jr., of Jackson, Miss.

Delfino Mateo Ortega

Delfino Mateo Ortega, 84, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local care center. He was born May 19, 1918, in Huntington Beach, Calif. A resident for 31 years, he was a retired pipe fitter for a local construction company.

He is survived by his wife, Dominga; six sons, Raul O. Nunez, Frank Ortega, George Ortega, Alfonzo Herrera, Ramon Herrera and Camilo Herrera; one sister, Mary Ellen Hepker; seven brothers, Juan Ortega, Raul Ortega, Amando Ortega, Reymundo Ortega, Julian Ortega, Gilberto Ortega and Candido Ortega; 23 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North

Brandon DaNang Rockett

Brandon DaNang Rockett, 12, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 19, 1989, in Harvey, Ill. A resident for four years, he was a junior high school student.

He is survived by his mother, Jennifer M. Hawkins of Las Vegas; his father, DaNang A. Rockett of Stone Mountain, Ga.; two brothers, Jeremy D. Hawkins of Las Vegas and DaNang A. Rockett Jr., of Stone Mountain.

Services will be 5 p.m. Friday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd.

Aaliyah Michea Russell

Aaliyah Michea Russell, three months, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 18, 2002, in Las Vegas.

She is survived her father, Comet Traye Russell III, her mother, Angelica DeLaTorre, three sisters, Avante Chanler, Jasmeen Hodges and Awmani Russell; one brother, Comet Thaliq Russell IV; and his grandparents, Barbara Ann Wynn and Rebecca Aurelio DeLaTorre, all of Las Vegas.

Joe B. Smith

Joe B. Smith, 85, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born May 2, 1917, in Ada, Okla. A resident for 40 years, he was a defense engineer, a 32nd degree Mason and member of Daylight Lodge 44.

Frances R. Hobbs Thacker

Frances R. Hobbs Thacker, 80, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 26, 1921, in Macon, Ga. A resident for 75 years, she was a homemaker, member of the Mesquite Club, Home of the Good Sheperd and a candy striper at Clark County Hospital during the war.

She is survived by one son, Jack Thacker, and two daughters, Janice Mason and Jill Peterson Thacker, all of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will 1 p.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Main, followed by graveside services in Woodlawn Cemetery. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Miguel Cambero Vazquez

Miguel Cambero Vazquez, 70, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. He was born May 1, 1932, in Mexico. A resident for 30 years, he was a welder for 30 years.

He is survived by four sons, Louie Vazquez, Manuel Vazquez, Angelo Vazquez and David Vazquez, and two daughters, Oly Embry and Blanca Vazquez-Mendoza, all of Las Vegas; and three grandchildren.

Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 130 N. Pecos Road, Henderson. Burial will be in Davis Paradise Valley Cemetery. Nevada Funeral Service, 2983 Fremont St., is handling arrangements.
