Letter: Racial profiling in Washington

Friday, June 7, 2002 | 10:28 a.m.

It is as stupid today as it was in 1942 when the government decided all Americans of Japanese heritage should be interned -- not, however, all the Americans who were loyal attendees at German-American Bund meetings throughout the U.S.

If the Washington gang wants to investigate noncitizens coming into this country, then do it to every nationality from every country.

The track record of these whiz kids gets a failing grade despite the fact they had tons of evidence that might have prevented 9/11 -- if they had only looked at it and shared its content!

To single out any group for special probing because they fit some preconceived notion the government has, regarding what a "terrorist" looks like, is as stupid a suggestion as has ever come out of Washington.
