Upscale tavern OK’d

Thursday, June 6, 2002 | 11:37 a.m.

John Crofts was given approval by the Las Vegas City Council Wednesday to develop a 7,800-square-foot tavern and restaurant called the Ice House, on Main Street, between Garces and Bonnevile avenues.

The site is currently home to the former Red Eyed Jack sports bar, which will be torn down to make room for the new, more "upscale" tavern, Crofts said. The tavern will have limited gaming.

Crofts said he wanted to help revitalization efforts by building a first-class tavern, which is along the proposed downtown monorail route.
