Said Bulldogs coach Cyndi Castro: "This year we have her the green light to call all the pitches, so a lot of both Shannon Crisp and Amy Sauer's success was due to Maggie's knowledge and her leadership behind the plate. It's going to be really tough losing her; she's been a team leader for three years."
SHANNON CRISP
Centennial, 1B, Soph.
Noteworthy: Bulldogs' cleanup hitter batted .509 with .697 on-base percentage, .767 slugging percentage...hit 7 doubles, 4 triples, 5 homers with 26 RBIs and 47 runs...as a pitcher, went 18-1 with 0.33 ERA, 180 Ks and 17 BB in 128.1 IP, allowed only 6 earned runs all season...made just 3 errors in 259 innings...two-year varsity starter...two-time first-team Al-Sunset Region...two-time Sun All-State first-teamer.
Said Bulldogs coach Cyndi Castro: "She's our overall team MVP. It's tough enough to be a dominant pitcher on the mound, but to take her game into the (batter's) box, where she led us in every hitting category, is pretty difficult to do. She's got so much to look forward to."
JULIE BRAND
Silverado, 2B, Sr.

Said Skyhawks coach Chuck Pope: "Once we put her in the leadoff spot, it made a huge difference for us. She's the epitomy of a leadoff hitter -- she sacrificed some RBIs to set the tone for us, and took pitches so her teammates' could see the pitcher's stuff."
CINDY ELKINS

Said Colts coach Dick Allen: "She's a five-tool player who can hit for average and for power, steal a base and has great range and a tremendous arm. She's done all that for us since she first stepped on campus four years ago."
STEFANIE FISCO
Durango, 3B Sr.
Noteworthy: Power-hitting corner infielder batted .588 with 1.125 slugging percentage and .687 on-base percentage...hit 8 doubles, 4 triples and state-best 10 homers...drove in 44 runs, scored 33, drew 15 walks and struck out only 9 times in 80 at-bats...racked up 90 total bases...four-year varsity starter...Southern Utah signee...2002 Sunset Region Player of the Year...two-time Sun All-State first-teamer.
Said Trailblazers coach Sandy Morgan: "In our program's nine-year history, she's been the most consistent power hitter we've ever had. She's so confident and calm in situations where a lot of kids her age would panic. When you have runners on and you need a big hit, you want her at the plate."
MICHON JEANNEY
McQueen, OF, Jr.

Said Huskies coach Jim Pace: "She's a great left-handed drag bunter and slap hitter. If the ball hit the ground, she beat it out more times than not. She knows the game, and she's an extremely tough competitor who hates to lose."
KAYCEE WILCKS
Douglas, OF, Soph.
Noteworthy: Left-handed No. 2 hitter hit .328 with 4 triples, 2 homers, 16 RBIs...finished with .381 on-base percentage, 30 runs, 10 stolen bases...two-year varsity starter...cousin of Wooster pitcher Brianne McGowan...first-team All-Sierra Division.

BRITTANY LORENZEN
Basic, DH, Sr.
Noteworthy: Wolves' shortstop batted .614 with .729 on-base percentage...leadoff hitter had 14 doubles, 1 triple, 7 homers, five steals, 30 runs and 17 RBIs...did not strike out in 70 at-bats this season...four-year varsity starter...Nevada-Reno signee...first-team All-Sunrise Region.
Said Wolves coach Bart Black: "My philosophy was to get our best hitter as many at-bats as possible by leading her off. Our whole team revolved around her -- her intensity and her ability to put the team on her shoulders and get it done."

Said Huskies coach Jim Pace: "I coached 10 years of college baseball, and she's as good as anybody I had. Offensively, I think she's the best hitter up here, and she got intentionally walked and pitched around all year. I wish I had a few more like her."
BRIANNE MCGOWAN
Wooster, P, Jr.
Noteworthy: Two-time Sun State Player of the Year went 32-2 with 0.33 ERA for 4A state champion Colts...tossed 25 shutouts, including 6 no-hitters and 2 perfect games...struck out 372 and walked 36 in 214 innings...allowed only 10 earned runs all season...hit .462 with 8 doubles, 1 triple, 7 homers, 48 RBIs...scored 45 runs and struck out only 8 times in 117 at-bats...went 4-0 with 4 shutouts at state tournament, throwing one no-hitter and one perfect game...three-year varsity starter...2002 Gatorade State Player of the Year...three-time first-team Sun All-State.
Said Colts coach Dick Allen: "You get to the state tournament and you've got the best eight teams, but that's when she pitched her best. She's pitched in so many big games in her lifetime, she's just dialed in out there.
MORGAN MILLER
Silverado, P, Jr.

Said Skyhawks coach Chuck Pope: "A lot of times she gets overlooked, and part of that is due to my insistence of using two or three pitchers. She gets the tough teams all the time, but she'd have 30 wins if she pitched somewhere else where she pitched against everyone."
KATIE WARD
McQueen, P, Jr.
Noteworthy: Lancers' ace went 20-9 with 1.40 ERA to help team claim one of two northern berths to 4A state tournament...had 147 Ks and 37 BB in 180 1/3 IP...one-hit Centennial and Eldorado in state tourney...No. 4 hitter batted .409 with .582 slugging percentage, 10 doubles, 5 triples, 1 homer and 34 RBIs...stole 13 bases, scored 28 runs and compiled .950 fielding percentage...first-team All-High Desert Division.
