Peter Benton's golf column appears Wednesday.
Things are definitely heating up in the Women's Southern Nevada Golf Association's Team Match Play Competition, as it appears that every month there is a new leader in the standings.
In last week's event, played over the Revere at Anthem course, the Las Vegas Business Women's team consisting of Geneva Cullen, Christine Caruso, Eve Farr, Jan Hansen, Ann Sutton, Jackie Pierson, Lynn King and Karen Power overwhelmed the Badlands team 15 1/2-8 1/2. The victory moved Las Vegas Business Women atop the standings in the Blue League with 62 points.
Following closely with 58 points is the Las Vegas Country Club team. Sun City, 48.5; Badlands, 38; Canyon Gate, 37; Stallion Mountain, 30.5; and Sunrise Vista 14; round out the standings.
By defeating the Red Rock Country Club team 16-8, the Las Vegas Golf Club's representatives of Sally Allen, J. Penhulzen, B. Christensen, Barb Burton, Lena Alaimo, Joan Marcotte, G. DenKenson and Ann Contine moved up two spots in the Red League standings. Red Rock Country Club is the leader with 49.5 points.
Spanish Trail is right behind with 49, followed by Las Vegas Golf Club, 48; Revere, 47.5; Desert Rose, 38; Boulder City, 35; and Los Prados, 21.
