Weather heads back to 100

Tuesday, June 4, 2002 | 9:22 a.m.

A brief but fierce weather disturbance moved through the Las Vegas Valley Monday afternoon, cooling the air and creating gusty winds.

Warmer and drier weather conditions will continue through this week, with temperatures reaching 100 degrees by Saturday.

The high reached 91 degrees Monday, while the normal temperature for this time of year is 97, meteorologist Charlie Schlott of the National Weather Service said. Mount Charleston recorded only 57 degrees Monday after a high of 75 degrees on Sunday.

The weather system brought a wind gust of 43 mph to McCarran International Airport at 3:25 p.m., Schlott said. Traces of rain fell on Mount Charleston and in some areas of the valley, but no rain was measured.
