Letter: Let’s remember homeless vets throughout year
Tuesday, June 4, 2002 | 8:53 a.m.
The forgotten veteran in the recent Memorial Day ceremonies was the homeless veteran. If he isn't remembered, then you can be sure he won't be uppermost in the minds of politicians and bureaucrats for the rest of the year, either.
How can this be during wartime?
The main responsibility for the homeless veteran's comprehensive earned services is on the federal government and the Veterans Administration. Some persons who claim to be homeless veteran advocates are too timid.
If so, they should not claim to be advocates because the meek will not get the homeless veteran justice.
President Bush and VA Secretary Anthony Principi must remember the homeless veteran all year.
