Study Red Rock and the sky above
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area offers hikes, walks and programs free of charge, but reservations are required. To make reservations or for more information, call 363-1922. Some upcoming programs:
Red Rock Day Camp: On Friday, join Janis and Vicki for a 1 1/2-mile moderately-easy hike in search of insects that make their home at Red Rock. Bring a sack lunch. RSVP.
The Wild Bunch: A short slide show viewing the world of carnivores, herbivores and endangered species, will be shown Saturday. RSVP.
Star Gazing: A program featuring stories about nighttime creatures at Red Rock while viewing the constellations Saturday. A telescope will be set up. RSVP.
Golf to help Down Syndrome group
The Bennett Foundation, Children's Heart Center, Equus Management, First In Inc. and National Airlines challenge other businesses and companies to sponsor teams for the Down Syndrome Organization of Southern Nevada's sixth annual golf tournament at 8 a.m. Saturday.
The event begins with e 7 a.m. registration and continental breakfast at Rhodes Ranch Country Club. The tournament will includes lunch and awards.

Healthy Hearts class planned
MountainView Hospital presents "Healthy Hearts," a class offered at noon Wednesday at the hospital, 3100 N. Tenaya Way.
The class includes healthy food tasting, information regarding sodium, soy, garlic, cholesterol, fiber, saturated fat, food labels and more.
The class is beneficial for people with heart conditions and their caregivers, but it is open to anyone with an interest in preventing heart disease.

The American Parkinson Disease Association
Las Vegas chapter will hold its seventh annual Walk for the Cure Walk-A-Thon beginning with registration at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Rainbow Family Park, 7151 W. Oakey Blvd. To register or for more information, call 464-3132.
The annual Old Las Vegas High School
Wildcat Reunion will be 5 p.m. Saturday at Sam's Town. Reservations can be made by calling Jean McColl at 871-0282 or send e-mail to JMccolll48@aol. com. Attendees can also pay at the door.
