Savvy wine buys: ‘01 Voss Sauvignon Blanc
Wednesday, July 31, 2002 | 8:25 a.m.
Voss Vineyards lies directly between the towns of Oakville and St. Helena in the heart of the Napa Valley. Night harvesting and a cool, slow fermentation may contribute to the fact that this isn't a typical Sauvignon Blanc. It's missing the strong mineral tang most people associate with wines made from this grape, nor does it have much of the traditionally grassy nose that makes people either love or hate Sauvignon Blanc. Rather, it is a light, tropical wine, laden with citrus and sweet island fruits.
Available at International Wine, and Lee's Discount Liquors, $19.99.
