Regulators order Nevada companies to fix slots

Nevada gaming regulators have ordered two of the industry's largest makers of slot machines to fix Nevada machines that have a minor glitch that involves how jackpots are paid.
The state Gaming Control Board has given slot manufacturers International Game Technology of Reno and Bally Gaming and Systems until Dec. 29 to fix the machines. Bally is a unit of Alliance Gaming Corp. of Las Vegas.
Control Board Chairman Dennis Neilander has said the glitch was minor and unlikely to affect slot players. Manufacturers were also addressing the problem, he added.
In such cases, companies notify their casino customers of the problem and how to fix it, Neilander said. Also, slot makers continually submit upgrades to the machines' computer systems that make them function more smoothly, he added.
