Shooting kills one man, wounds one
One man was killed and another wounded in a suspected gang-related shooting just after midnight this morning at an apartment complex.
The two men, 23 and 22, were standing between two apartment buildings in the 3500 block of East Lake Mead Boulevard near Pecos Road when at least two other people approached and started shooting Metro Police said.
The 23-year-old man was hit about 10 times by gunfire and died at University Medical Center at 1:50 a.m. The other man was hit in the arm and thigh and was listed this morning in serious condition.
No one reported seeing the shooting and there is no description of the suspects or how the suspects escaped from the area, police said.
The 23-year-old man was known to have an affiliation with a gang and detectives are investigating the possibility the shooting was gang related, police said.
Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Metro's homicide unit at 229-3521 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
Jail inmate's death probed
Metro Police are investigating the death of a Clark County jail inmate over the weekend, but no foul play is suspected.
Glenn A. Nance, 43, was found unresponsive in a holding cell in the booking area of the jail Saturday morning. He was taken to University Medical Center, where he died about 11 a.m. Saturday.
An autopsy was performed Monday on Nance, but no cause of death has been determined pending the results of toxicology testing. No obvious wounds or injuries caused his death, police said.
Nance was arrested late Friday on several no-bail warrants on drug charges. He was booked into the jail and put into a holding cell with two other men. At some point Saturday morning, Nance rolled off a bench onto another inmate, police said.
The inmate called correction officers, and Nance was then taken to the hospital, police said.

There was no estimate of the damage.
Body of woman found in Dumpster
Metro Police homicide detectives are investigating the death of a woman whose body was discovered in a Dumpster behind an apartment complex in northwestern Las Vegas Monday afternoon.
About 4 p.m. residents of the Evergreen Apartments in the 5400 block of West Cheyenne Avenue near Michael Way discovered the body wrapped in a white sheet and under cardboard as they emptied trash into the Dumpster, Metro Lt. Tom Monahan said.
The victim's identity is unknown at this time, Monahan said. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Metro's homicide unit at 229-3521 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
LV girl, 11, dies in Montana pool
Authorities in Montana are investigating the death of an 11-year-old Las Vegas girl who collapsed in a motel swimming pool.
Cassandra Fischer may have died from a physical problem, and not from drowning, said Sheriff's Sgt. Ernie Freebury, the deputy coroner in Kalispell, Mont.
Freebury said Fischer collapsed about 3:15 p.m. Monday, while she and her mother were in the pool together.
The girl was pulled from the water, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation was attempted.
The girl was taken by ambulance to Kalispell Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
Freebury said an autopsy will be conducted in Missoula, Mont.
He said the girl and her parents had been vacationing in northwest Montana.
