Curtis C. Durkee

Curtis C. Durkee, 49, of Henderson died Saturday in Henderson. He was born Jan. 31, 1953, in Detroit. A resident for four years, he was a truck driver.

He is survived by his wife, Natalie; one daughter, Katie Durkee of Frasier, Mich.; one son, Douglas Durkee of Roseville, Mich.; his mother, Margaret Helen Durkee of East Pointe, Mich.; two sisters, Diane McCallum of Henderson and Sharon Smallwood of Warren, Mich.; and four brothers, James Durkee and John Durkee, both of Warren, Randy Durkee of Washington, Mich., and Richard Durkee of Clinton Township, Mich.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Marie E. Fyler

Marie E. Fyler, 48, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. A waitress, she was born Nov. 9, 1953, in Lawrence County, Pa.

She is survived by her husband, David; one daughter, Nichole Marie Finamore of Irwin, Pa.; her mother, Zayna Notar of Las Vegas; her father, Kenneth Brennaman of Ohio; two brothers, Keith Brennaman of Las Vegas and Kevin Brennaman of New Castle, Pa.; three sisters, Karen DeLorenzo of New Castle, Kathleen Durgam of Maryland and Lynn Jungers of California; and one grandchild.

Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling private arrangements.

Maria 'Dilia' Lopez

Maria "Dilia" Lopez, 74, of North Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 18, 1927, in Colorado. A resident for 50 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by eight daughters, Mary Lopez, Louisa Lopez, Shirley Lopez, Toni Lopez, Mary Oakley, Rebecca Duran, Susie Rader and Maria Rodriquez; two brothers, Paul Martinez and Jose Martinez; two sisters, Ana Maria Gallegos and Ramona Garcia; 35 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is arranging services.

Lydia Smith Malcolm

Lydia Smith Malcolm, 93, of Henderson died July 10 in San Marcos, Calif. She was born Aug. 22, 1908, in Middle Sprite, N.Y. A resident for 56 years, she was a retired city of Henderson librarian, a member and on the board of directors of the Henderson Salvation Army, a member of the women's auxiliary at St. Rose Dominican Hospital and Clark County Heritage Museum Guild and president of the Nevada Library Association 1953-1954.

She is survived by two daughters, Constance Gates of San Diego and Marcia Merkel of Las Vegas; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

The family suggests donations to the Salvation Army, 830 E. Lake Mead Drive, Henderson, NV 89015, or the Henderson District Library, 280 Water St., Henderson, NV 89015.

Betty Morris

Betty Morris, 61, of Laughlin died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 14, 1941, in West Virginia. A resident for 32 years, she was a retired food server, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion and the Moose.

She is survived by her companion, James Heatherly of Arizona; one stepdaughter, Jeanie Stockton of Kingman, Ariz.; three brothers, Carl V. Wickline of North Carolina, Charles Wickline of West Virginia and Joseph Wickline of Arizona; two sisters, Nancy Wickline of California and Martha Herrick of Washington state; and one grandchild.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Old River Wedding Chapel and Historical Society, Highway 95 and Silver Creek Road, Bullhead City, Ariz.

LaVeen Nelson

LaVeen Nelson, 71, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 29, 1930, in Richfield, Utah. A resident for 60 years, she was a retired school district secretary.

She is survived by her husband, Charles V.; two sons, Randy Nelson of Las Vegas and Eric Nelson of Newport Beach, Calif.; her mother, Alta Hawley of Las Vegas; and one sister, Jodell Bohot of Highlands Ranch, Colo.

A memorial service will be 6 p.m. Thursday in Trinity Life Center, 1000 E. St. Louis Ave. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Lillian E. Robinson

Lillian E. Robinson, 75, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local health care center. She was born Aug. 18, 1926, in Portsmouth, Va. A resident for seven years, she was a retired retailer.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda Masciola of Las Vegas; one son, Casey Robinson of Virginia Beach, Va.; and four grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-5 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Palm Chapel, Cheyenne.

Lena Schauflander

Lena Schauflander, 99, of Henderson died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 21, 1902, in New York City. A resident for one year, she was a retired sewing machine operator.

She is survived by one daughter, Betty Setzer of Henderson; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 9 a.m. Tuesday in King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane. Burial will follow in King David Cemetery.
