StumbleShalmy named president

The board of directors of Sierra Pacific Resources on Wednesday elected Donald "Pat" Shalmy as president of Nevada Power Co. Shalmy will be responsible for day-to-day operations for the utility, which is a subsidiary of Sierra Pacific.
Shalmy, former president of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce and Clark County manager, joined Nevada Power in May as senior vice president. Sierra Pacific Chairman and CEO Walt Higgins had been acting as president of Nevada Power after Mark Ruelle was fired in May.
