Celebrities donate bras for charity

Wednesday, July 24, 2002 | 9:24 a.m.

Only in Las Vegas can you bid on celebrity bras.

More than two dozen celebrities have donated autographed bras for a Celebrity Bra Auction to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

The auction, featuring bras from Las Vegas stars Rita Rudner, Charo, Sheena Easton, Melinda, Sunny, Chrissie Scinta, Marlene Ricci and female impersonator Frank Marino, is part of the foundation's "Bras Across the Strip" event this Sunday.

The foundation will stretch bras along the Strip from Mandalay Bay to the Stratosphere to raise awareness about breast cancer and money for research, starting at 9 a.m. Sunday.

The bras, which also include autographs from male stars such as Wayne Newton, Tom Jones, Howie Mandel, the Ratpack and Siegfried and Roy, can be bid on online at the sponsoring radio station websites: www.star102fin.com and www.kklz.com. Final bidding will take place on air from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at radio stations KSTJ-FM 102.7 and KKLZ-FM 96.3.

The foundation is still collecting both new and used bras to stretch across the Strip, which will later be donated to Safe Nest and Goodwill. Bras can be dropped off at the radio stations, Goodwill drop-offs, area Las Vegas Athletic Clubs, Auto Excellence stores, Great Clips, Tony Roma's restaurants, the Hard Rock and Orleans hotel and casinos.
