Study looks at use of standard cars in Spring Mountains
Tuesday, July 23, 2002 | 9:02 a.m.
The U.S. Forest Service is analyzing standard car use on roads in the Spring Mountains west of Las Vegas, part of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. The analysis will be included in a national study.
A new policy adopted in January 2001 requires the Forest Service to conduct a science-based analysis of road use.
Open houses are being held in Nevada during July and August.
Las Vegas open houses are scheduled from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the U.S. Forest Service Office on 4701 N. Torrey Pine Drive.
The analysis does not include roads that are used by four-wheel-drive vehicles; those roads will be examined in a future analysis.
