LV airline numbers still down

McCarran International Airport served 3 million passengers in June, down 5.4 percent from June 2001 as the Las Vegas tourism industry continued to recover from the 2001 recession and the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

McCarran said Monday that the year-to-date number for the Las Vegas airport is 17.3 million passengers served, down 6.7 percent.

In June, traffic for market leader Southwest Airlines was down 4.7 percent. No. 2 America West was down 13 percent, United was down 18.2 percent, National was off .8 percent and Delta was down 1.4 percent.
