Nevada congressman seeks investigation of tanker crashes

RENO, Nev. - Nevada U.S. Rep. Jim Gibbons is calling for an investigation into two deadly crashes of air tanker planes. Gibbons, R-Nev., wants the House subcommittee on Forests and Forest Health to look into the accidents.

Female juvenile offenders help fight Nevada wildfires

LAS VEGAS - In her other life, Deana was a self-harmer. She says she "carved" herself more than 400 times. The petite 17-year-old, a victim of sexual and physical abuse, has been in and out of mental hospitals and juvenile facilities for the past year. In her new life, she walks on coals, hacks up trees and smothers hot spots. Deana is a member of the only all-female, 18-and-under fire crew in the nation.

Quarterbacks dominate leaderboard at Tahoe celebrity golf

STATELINE, Nev. - Neil Lomax birdied two of the first three holes Saturday to take the early lead in the second round of the $500,000 American Century Celebrity Golf Championship, where five of the players at the top of the leader board are ex-NFL quarterbacks. John Elway, Steve Bartkowski, Stan Humphries and Billy Joe Tolliver also were making a run.
