Kids gain confidence at camp

The parents of three children say their meager income does not stretch for such luxuries as camp. They say they recognize the benefits of camp and hope their children will be able to attend this year.
"Camp makes the children responsible and confident. It helps shape their personalities because they learn from others how to be respectful," the mother says. "It widens their scope of thinking with new friends and fun away from the home environment."
She has asked for the Sun Camp Fund's help to provide these opportunities for her children.
The single mother of two young girls believes camp is an opportunity for them to experience "good and fun things."
"It not only will keep them out of trouble, it also will widen their horizons and show them and teach them things I may not be able to afford them otherwise," the mother says.
She works, but can pay only a small part of the cost of camp. She's seeking the Sun Camp Fund's help with the rest.
One man, whose only income is from retirement and disability pay, says he wanted to give $20 to the Sun Camp Fund to help children. "It's all I can afford," he said.
