Letter: Impersonating Martha Stewart

Wednesday, July 17, 2002 | 8:57 a.m.

President Bush's explanation for selling his Harken stock, and profiting immensely before the company filed a quarterly report stating it lost $23 million, is a pretty lame excuse.

His statement saying he filed an "intention to sell" form before the report sounds like Martha Stewart's explanation of her stock sales.

It is too bad that President Bush's proposal to jail the bad guys of business was not in effect when Bush was a Harken Energy Corp. executive. It would have saved us from the pro-rich Bush presidency.
