Fire damages construction site
Wednesday, July 17, 2002 | 10:55 a.m.
A two-alarm fire destroyed three houses under construction and damaged a nearly completed house this morning.
Clark County firefighters needed about an hour to bring the blaze under control at the construction site of the homes on San Palazzo near Cactus Avenue and Decatur Boulevard, Bob Leinbach, a fire department spokesman, said.
The fire started about 7 a.m. and quickly spread among the three houses that were in the framing stage of construction, he said.
Firefighters were able to stop the fire from destroying a fourth house that was nearly completed, Leinbach said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Several construction workers and other employees were at the building site at the time of the fire, but there were no injuries.
No damage estimate was available this morning.
