New service from LV to Washington planned

Tempe, Ariz.-based America West Airlines will inaugurate daily air service between Las Vegas and suburban Washington, D.C.'s Dulles International Airport later this year.

America West will be the third carrier to offer nonstop service to the northern Virginia airport when it begins flights Dec. 26. United Airlines currently flies between McCarran and Dulles and National Airlines plans to start service next month. America West currently flies between Las Vegas and Washington's Ronald Reagan National Airport and National Airlines will return to that market in October.

America West's Dulles flight will leave Washington at 8:20 p.m., arriving at 10:21 p.m., with the return flight leaving Las Vegas at 11:25 p.m. and arriving at 6:55 a.m. The airline will use 124-passenger twin-engine Airbus A-319 jets on the route.
