Housing Authority makes plans to find new director

It was business as usual at Monday's Las Vegas Housing Authority meeting, as residents questioned security practices and called on board members to tour declining housing sites.
The mostly quiet meeting was a far cry from two weeks ago, when tempers flared following the death of the authority's executive director, Frederick Brown.
But emotions appeared to have dissipated as the board moved forward with finding a replacement for Brown while keeping his memory alive by naming an administrative building on 11th Street after him.
The board voted to appoint Parviz Ghadiri acting executive director while the authority begins a nationwide search for a replacement. The agency will request proposals for a firm that would search for possible candidates. The board would make the final selection.
The board also voted to appoint Joyce Roberson as special assistant to the executive director. Roberson served as regional director for the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development.
