Baby-sitter found guilty of abuse
A Clark County jury Thursday found a 34-year-old Las Vegas resident guilty of eight counts of sexual abuse of a minor under 14 following five hours of deliberations.
As a result of the verdict, Victor Manuel Rivera could receive as many as eight consecutive life sentences on Aug. 21.
According to prosecutors, Rivera sexually assaulted an 8-year-old boy at least 40 times while baby-sitting him between October 2000 and January 2001. Many of the acts were alleged to have taken place in front of Rivera's 10-year-old son, who testified against him.
