Letter: Prisoners are costly to support

Neither Michael Pescetta of the federal public defender's office nor Chris Owens of the Clark County district attorney's office (in their opposing commentaries on the death penalty that were published July 7) mentioned that it costs the taxpayers in excess of $50,000 per year to keep these murderers in jail.

Millions of Americans are raising families on less than half that amount of money. Where is the justice?
