51s will host clothing drive
The Las Vegas 51s are holding a clothing drive for Goodwill of Southern Nevada at the team's July 20 game with New Orleans.
The triple-A baseball team hopes to collect anything -- from clothes to small household items -- for the nonprofit organization, which works to provide traning, employment and job placement services for people with disabilities and other special needs.
"We are thrilled that the Las Vegas 51s are including Goodwill to participate in one of their biggest games of the seas," said Steve Chartrand, president and CEO of Goodwill. He will throw out the first pitch for the Hawaii-themed game.
A Goodwill truck will be outside Cashman Field on that Saturday to collect donations.
The Nevada Association of Fashion Design
and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas' Continuing Education Certificate programs, present "A Touch of Fashion Show" at 6 p.m. Monday in the Clark County Library's Amphitheater, 1401 E. Flamingo Road. Admission is free. For more information, call 314-9589.
