Reagan National flights delayed

Thursday, July 11, 2002 | 10:58 a.m.

National Airlines of Las Vegas said Wednesday that it is delaying by two months the resumption of nonstop flights between McCarran International Airport and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Washington, D.C.

National officials attributed the change in plans to a delay in the delivery of an airplane that aircraft leasing company Finova was to send to National this summer. Dik Simizu, a spokesman for the airline, said Finova did not want to deliver the plane before National receives approval of its federal loan guarantees from the Air Transportation Stabilization Board.

National's service to Reagan National was scheduled to start back up on Aug. 1, but is now scheduled to resume Oct. 2. Customers who have purchased tickets through the airline to fly to Reagan National can choose to fly instead to Washington Dulles International Airport at no extra charge, or they can ask the airline for a refund.

National's service to Reagan was halted after the September terrorism.
