Kids learn about Red Rock animals
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area offers hikes, walks and programs free of charge, but reservations are required. To make reservations or for more information, call 363-1922. Some upcoming programs:
Desert Babies: A program offered Wednesdays for 3-4 year olds to enjoy stories, activities, crafts and a snack.
Moenkopi Morning: Learn the Navajo meaning of Moenkopi while enjoying a 1 1/2 mile easy hike.
Alternative offered for hormones
Stasia Trivison, a talk radio host in Phoenix, will speak on natural alternatives for menopausal women to hormone replacement therapy at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Saturn of Henderson, 310 N. Gibson Road.
Trivison, a former school librarian, spent two years researching a natural hormone alternative. Her radio show focuses on women's health.

Special event set at skate park
The Las Vegas Leisure Services Department will host the first skate park special event and concert at Doc Romeo Park this weekend.
The event, from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at 7400 Peak Drive, will include skateboard demonstrations and giveaways by local skate shops.
The recently opened park is located inside a detention basin at Cheyenne Avenue and Buffalo Drive. The park features the latest in skate park designs, with more than 30,000 square feet of bends and spines.
Local skate and bike shops are giving away hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of products, including skateboards, bikes and equipment.
Admission is free to the public. For more information contact the Extreme Adventure Sports Unit at 229-2296.
NLV planning big spring event
North Las Vegas and its chamber of commerce will hold a planning session for a citywide spring event set for next May.
The meeting will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the North Las Vegas Library's Community Room, 2300 Civic Center Drive. Those interested in helping with the planning on one of several committees being formed should attend. Call 642-9595.
