'Touch of Fashion' can be seen Monday

Nevada Association of Fashion Design and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Continuing Education Certificate Program presents "A Touch of Fashion, Preview to a Premier," a fashion show at 6 p.m. Monday in the Clark County Library's Amphitheater, 1401 E. Flamingo Road.

The Nevada Fashion Bella Award will be presented to Colleen May, "Women in Media" winning recipient. Admission is free. For more information, call 314-9589.

Petroglyphs showcased at Red Rock Canyon

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area offers hikes, walks and programs free of charge, but reservations are required. To make reservations or for more information, call 363-1922. Some upcoming programs:

Red Rock Rock Art: A program for petroglyph enthusiasts to learn about the mysterious messages from the past, will be offered 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.

The Big Guys: Ongoing chats from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday with Elizabeth about some of Red Rock Canyon's large mammals.

Storytelling in the Canyon: A Sunday afternoon adventure featuring American Indian folklore and a craft.

An Evening Walk with Bats: A slide presentation given by Ranger Brian on Sunday on bats, at the Visitor Center, followed by a short and easy hike to the guzzler at White Rock to look and listen for bats.

'Let's Talk' tour to visit Mirage

A well-known cosmetics company is raising money to help find a cure for breast cancer.

Avon will be coming to The Mirage as part of its "Let's Talk" tour. Sponsored by Q-Tips, the tour was created to celebrate beauty with personalized makeovers, manicures and an opportunity to win a trip to New York City.

With the exhibit is a "kissing wall," in which women kiss the wall for $1. Since the program was launched in 1993 the tour has raised over $165 million for breast cancer research.

The event will be held at the Mirage Events Center, Room C-3, on July 20 from noon to 3 p.m. Call (626) 578-8150.
