Golf tournament to help Boy Scouts
The eighth annual Boy Scout Golf Marathon will tee off Sept. 17 at Stallion Mountain Country Club, 5500 E. Flamingo Road. Up to 40 golfers can compete in the all-day event.
Funds are raised through pledges obtained by the golfers prior to the marathon. Each player is asked to secure $25 in pledges per hole golfed.

Red Cross plans volunteers' picnic
The American Red Cross is hosting its 2002 volunteer recognition picnic from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Mission Hills Park, Henderson.
Red Cross volunteers, their immediate families, and sponsors are welcome to attend the event, which thanks the hundreds of volunteers who make it possible for the Red Cross to carry out its mission to help valley residents prevent, prepare for and respond to disasters.

Bow Wow Luau scheduled Friday
The Bow Wow Luau, Give a Dog a Home adopt-a-thon, will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday at PetsMart, 2140 N. Rainbow Blvd.
The event includes dogs from Companion Golden Retriever Rescue, Sin City Saint Rescue, German Shepherd Dog Rescue, Basset Hound Rescue, and Ginger's Rottie Rescue.
All dogs are spayed/neutered and up-to-date on shots. For more information, call 896-1049.
Public can Bowl for Kids Sake
Bowl for Kids Sake, an event to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nevada, will be 11 a.m., 1, 3, and 5 p.m. Saturday, Sunday, July 20 and 21 at Texas Station.
Individuals can put together a team of five bowlers with each participant raising a minimum of $100 in pledges, or companies may sponsor teams of five for a minimum pledge of $500.
Prizes include airline tickets. Register through the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Nevada's website (www.bbbsn.org). For more information, call 731-2227, Ext. 548.
