Suppliers strike slot deal

Monday, July 8, 2002 | 11:05 a.m.

Coinless Systems Inc., a developer of coinless slot machine technology, has signed a licensing agreement with slot machine maker Shuffle Master Inc. to allow Shuffle Master to use a patented system that verifies bar coded tickets in slot machines.

So-called "coinless" slot machines are equipped to accept and dispense paper tickets rather than simply coins or bills.

Coinless Systems, based in Las Vegas, has signed licensing agreements with other equipment makers to offer similar technology.

"We anticipate 2002 to be our best year in the history of the company," Coinless Systems Chief Executive Officer Dennis Sorenson said of the deal.

Shuffle Master, also based in Las Vegas, makes card shufflers, table games, slot machines and other systems.
