Red Rock hosts day camps, hikes

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area offers hikes, walks and programs free of charge, but reservations are required. To make reservations or for more information, call 363-1922. Some upcoming programs:

Exploring Oak Creek: A three-mile moderate hike offered Wednesday to discover the footprints in the sand.

Desert Tortoise Talks: A discussion on the natural history of Nevada's state reptile, will be ongoing from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. Each presentation is 20 minutes.

Reptile Watch: Join Ranger Jim Friday and seek out the reptiles that can be found at Red Rock Canyon on this 2 1/2-mile moderate hike.

Red Rock Day Camp: A program offered Friday. Join Janis and Vicki in and around Wheeler Springs and find out what it takes to be a frog. RSVP.
