Letter: U.S. must not abandon God
Friday, July 5, 2002 | 8:45 a.m.
Taking out the words "under God" from the "Pledge of Allegiance" will send our county straight to hell. Why should this country change on the whims of an atheist in San Francisco? Without God's protection, who can say if this country will survive?
Al-Qaida, supported by the Taliban in Afghanistan, which is the poorest country in the world, has attacked us. You've seen the mass destruction it caused. God help us if a real military power waged war (such as China). China didn't steal U.S. nuclear weaponry secrets without a reason.
America needs to repent and bring the Bible and prayer back to the classroom. Too many kids (and adults) have to learn the basics of what is correct behavior. So what if it offends a few troublemakers? Is this establishing a state religion? No. It is a guide of ethics. Bringing some moral righteousness back will stop kids from taking the wrong road.
What is the United States' future without God? Without God, who can say if there will be a tomorrow?
