Street fair
The Paris Las Vegas Street Fair, with complimentary French wine tastings, and food and drink booths, will run from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays and from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, through July 14. Admission is free. Call 731-7314.
Self-defense
The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District is offering a series of self-defense workshops at 10 a.m. Saturday at West Las Vegas Library, 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd. Admission is free. Call 507-3989.
Yoga for children
"Yoga at the Zoo," a three-week class for children ages 5-14 where they learn yoga by assuming animal postures, will be from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday (for three consecutive Wednesdays) at the Derfelt Senior Center, 3333 W. 'Paws,' puppets
An animal puppet show featuring traditional tales and nursery rhymes including "Three Little Pigs," "Gingerbread Man" and "Little Red Hen," will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday for children ages 7 and younger at Enterprise Library, 25 E. Shelbourne Ave.
Also at Enterprise Library, the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District continues its summer reading program "Paws & Celebrate Reading," with puppet shows, storytelling and surprise guests, at 7 p.m. Thursday. Call 507-3760.
Sign Design Theater
Sign Design Theater presents "Music Across America," a performance incorporating American Sign Language with storytelling and theater, at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at West Charleston Library, 6301 W. Charleston Blvd. Admission is free. Call 507-3940.
Screenings
The African-American Cultural Focus for Las Vegas' Cultural Affairs Division presents the film "Sankofa" at 1 p.m. Saturday at the West Las Vegas Arts Center, 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd. Admission is free. Mature audiences only. Call 229-4800.
As part of its International Film Series, UNLV's Film Studies Department presents the French film "Ouch AIE" at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Classroom Building Complex, Room A106. Admission is free. Mature audiences only. Call 895-3547.
Las Vegas' Family Film Festival, presented by the Cultural Affairs Division, is showing the first of four outdoor screenings beginning with "Mary Poppins," a family musical, at 8 p.m. Thursday at Jaycee Park, Eastern and St. Louis avenues. Admission is free. Call 229-6328.
Authors appear
Hal Rothman will sign and discuss "The Grit Beneath the Glitter: Tales From the Real Las Vegas and Neon Metropolis" at 2 p.m. Saturday at Borders Books & Music, 1445 W. Sunset Road, Henderson. Call 433-6222.

Summer theater
