Riviera employees give to Camp Fund

The Riviera Employees Foundation has donated $1,000 to the Sun Camp Fund.
This is the fourth year the foundation has contributed to the Camp Fund. Bob Nickels, a director of the foundation, said he became aware of the need to send children to camp when he read about it in the Sun.
"There were letters from mothers asking if their children could go to camp. I took the idea to the board and the board OK'd this," Nickels said.
He likes the idea of all the contributions going straight to the children. The Sun pays all administrative expenses.
The Riviera Employees Foundation is more than 20 years old. According to Eugene Plaid, a foundation director, 630 Riviera employees donate to the foundation through automatic paycheck contributions in varying amounts.
Plaid, who has worked at the Riviera for 37 years, reviews requests from community groups and charities, and then makes recommendations to the board. The foundation also supports such community projects as the Blind Center, the battered women's shelter, cancer programs and the Salvation Army.
